“You do not have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.”
– C.S. Lewis
We are back at it again this week, talking about how to slay this whole body confidence thing in a perfection and thin-obsessed world! If you missed it, check out Part 1 for 10 more important strategies to actually begin the rewiring of your thoughts and mindset on body image.
“The most alluring thing a woman can have is confidence.”
Body confidence and cultivating a positive body image have [thankfully] been growing topics in the health and wellness arenas. Because, as it turns out, how we view ourselves and our bodies plays a big role in general wellbeing and purpose. Who knew?!?!
“You gotta nourish to flourish.”
As a dietitian, I often get asked about my own eating habits and the “food rules” I live by. I struggle with my response for two reasons:
- I hate rules, especially when it comes to food. It is important to reframe them as guidelines or practices.
- It doesn’t really matter what I eat. What matters is what YOUR body wants you to eat.
“Loving ourselves through the process of owning our story is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.”
– Brene’ Brown
We live in a world of wellness that is validated by the before and after shot. The left side showing a sad, unfulfilled human in poor lighting with poor posture. On the right, a radiant individual, smiling, shoulders pulled back with confidence, and a six pack chiseled into their midsection…usually with “6 months later” or something along those lines as the caption.
I see this story all the time. My Instagram feed is inundated with this story. This story is everywhere.
But that is not MY story.
